Iran is the western home of Pallas’ cat. This animal is mostly observed in northeastern Iran and there are sporadic reports of its presence in the center and northwest. Also, most reports of Pallas’ cat are associated with dead or live animals taken by herders at high altitudes. There is very little information about the feeding, habitat, reproduction, and social behavior of this animal and the killing of pack dogs appears to be an important threat to the persistence of Pallas’ cat in Iran.
