2021 Golden Lion of Venice director Audrey Devan has been selected as the jury president for Section 62 of Cannes Critics Week.
According to the informants, citing Variety, Portuguese cinematographer Rui Bocas, German actor Franz Rogowski, Indian journalist Meenakshi Shede, a programming consultant at the Berlinale, and Kim Yutani, program director of the Sundance Film Festival, are among the others. Along with Audrey Devan as president of the jury, the films of the Critics’ Week section at Cannes will be judged.
The Critics’ Week side-section takes place in parallel with the Cannes Film Festival and focuses on the directors’ first and second films.
Former journalist Audrey Dewan made her film debut, Losing It, in 2019, and two years later won best film at the 2021 Venice Film Festival with her abortion drama Itfaq. He is the third winner of the Venice Film Festival in the history of the event, after Anees Varda (who won the Golden Lion in Venice in 1985 for The Tramp) and Chloe Zhao, who won the Venice Film Festival in 2020 with the film. The Land of the Displaced is considered cinematic.
