The board of directors of Tesla, the electric vehicle manufacturing giant, has launched an investigation into Elon Musk, the company’s CEO; Because Musk is using company money to build a house near his Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
The Wall Street Journal, citing its sources, explains that special glass was purchased worth millions of dollars for the project, dubbed “Project 42,” and it caught the attention of Tesla employees. Also, companies associated with Musk and other auto giant executives appear to have purchased a significant amount of land around this area.
The house is under construction by Elon Musk
It is said that the house Elon Musk is building is most likely a “twisted hexagon” or glass cube similar to the Apple Fifth Avenue store. Also, experts said that apparently this house will be a personal space; It includes a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.
The outcome of this investigation is not yet clear. Because Tesla shut down the PR department years ago and Musk hasn’t provided any information yet about it. However, Tesla’s board of directors wants to know Musk’s role in the project, as well as whether Tesla workers are spending their time building the house.
This isn’t the first time a tech CEO has come under scrutiny for his spending. Last year, Meta also launched an investigation and questioning of Sheryl Sandberg, its former CEO, to determine the possibility of misuse of company resources by it. At the time, Meta was said to be investigating whether she had properly used the company’s resources to plan her upcoming wedding.
