The ball is in Iran’s court

Cyberspace is not excluded from this rule, and it has had positive and negative effects on human life, which indicates the need to study it. As a result of this work, criminal policy makers, lawyers, and criminologists have entered this space by identifying cybercrimes, predicting appropriate penalties, providing and implementing security and preventive measures regarding the dangers of this space, and education and awareness. From the devastating consequences of cyberspace, people perform their essential duties in this field, and it is necessary to check the quality and dimensions of this job.

Mankind has witnessed countless long battles throughout its history, and it seems that it has been caught up in battles. The rapid developments in information and communication technology and the ever-increasing expansion of cyberspace have affected all aspects of human life, including battles and wars, and governments are trying to expand their interests in using these technologies as much as possible. In this regard, the command and control of future wars has undergone fundamental changes due to the capabilities of cyberspace.

The increasing process of transformation and advancement in information technology and its widespread use in the field of virtual space and the use of related hardware, tools and software have affected the methods and techniques of battles and created a new form of warfare. The requirement of the countries’ armed forces to exploit the latest technological achievements has made them a vital matter, thus correct recognition and timely entry into new areas of defense is always one of the concerns of designers and actors in the field of strategy and defense.

Attacking critical infrastructure in order to disrupt the country’s transportation systems is clearly seeking to achieve this goal. Amidst the suspension of nuclear talks and the policy of tactical ambiguity that Iran has adopted regarding it, with increasing economic, social and political costs, Tehran has returned to negotiations. table.

Contrary to the opinion of experts who believe that Iran is following the path of North Korea and conducting a nuclear test, on the contrary, it seems that it is seriously seeking to lift the sanctions and at the same time maintain and advance nuclear energy. Iran’s ultimate goal is to reach a certain threshold as countries that have the potential for nuclear testing capability, but are not willing to violate existing treaties and protocols.

With this description, Iran’s procrastination in returning to talks is viewed from another perspective: the nuclear developments in Dr. Rouhani’s government, such as increasing the uranium stockpile at a high enrichment rate and a new generation of centrifuges, are the factors that prompted Tehran to this conviction. A new type has been created. deterrence and balance that it can use as leverage.

Having said that, it is possible that the recent cyber attacks are a joint Western project in order to pressure the President’s government to abandon the handshake policy and return to talks soon. It also carries this message in the envelope that there may be more and more serious attacks in the future in order to reduce the country’s internal resilience to withstand the sanctions and the current unfavorable economic situation.

Here, it can be said that the ball is in Iran’s court to respond to the recent attacks with similar action in the cyber field or in other fields and restore balance by creating a new deterrent and increasing the costs for the attackers.
